About Us

Howard Riethmeyer initially started Howard's Texaco at the corner of Anderson Lane and Woodrow in 1959. Howard’s son, Keith rode his bicycle to help at the shop on Anderson Lane at the age of 6. At that time, Howard’s Texaco was a full service gas station and repair facility. Keith had a step stool he used to stand on to wash customer’s windshields. In the early 60’s Howard moved farther down Anderson Lane and started Howard's Auto Repair. After purchasing property on FM 1325 he incorporated as Riethmeyer's Auto Repair. Riethmeyer’s has been in business in this location since October,1978. When we first moved to FM 1325 it was a two lane road with deer and wild life all around the area. From October, 1978 FM 1325 was renamed Burnet Road. It has now been re-named Mopac Expressway N. Riethmeyer’s Auto Repair is now surrounded by businesses. St. David’s Medical Center is directly across the street from us.

One thing that has not changed over time; however, is Riethmeyer's Auto Repair. We are still a family owned business and take pride in knowing most of our customers on a first name basis. When Howard Riethmeyer passed away in 1989, his daughter Sandy Schiller began working in the office to help their mother with the book work. Christean passed away in 1991 and Sandy continued to work in the office. Keith and (his sister) Sandy work together to see that the same quality and service continues at Riethmeyer's. Keith has one son, Bradley and a daughter, Amber who both have spent time at the family business. Sandy's three daughters have all helped in the office during the summers until they graduated from college. This is an example of how important family is at Riethmeyer's. You can always count on friendly, family oriented service where customer’s quickly become like family!
